Did Jesus Know that He was Going to Die?

Did Jesus Know that He was Going to Die?

Have you ever asked the question, did Jesus know that He was going to die?  When He began His earthly ministry, did He know that it would end on a cold wooden cross, that He would be crucified, dead and buried, and rise again on the third day?

In John chapter 2, Jesus tells us that He did.  In the context of turning the temple courtyard upside down, overturning the tables of the money changers, and dumping out their coins because they were making a mockery of the place where God met man, the religious leaders challenged Jesus, “What sign do you show us for doing these things?”  Jesus answered, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”  Of course, He was talking about His own body.  So Jesus knew that He was going to die.  In fact, He came on a mission to die so that you and I can be reconciled to God through faith in Jesus.

Something to think about from the Proclamation point of view.
