The Lord is God

What robs you of your joy? What steals your peace? What causes you to be less than thankful, even causes you to grumble and complain and be difficult to live with because you’re discouraged and depressed and irritated with everyone and everything? In its essence, I think it’s having a wrong understanding of who’s running the show.

Just listen to Psalm 100:1-3. The Psalmist says, “Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth. Serve the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful singing. Know that the Lord Himself is God; it is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people and the sheep of His pasture.” Do you see? I think we get all confused about who’s in control, and we grumble because things don’t go our way. Here’s a profound reality. The Lord is God and you, my friend, are not. God is the creator. We are the creatures. And yet, He offers to be our good shepherd, to restore our souls, and to lead us in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake so that we might dwell in the house of the Lord forever. That reality is only true for those who put their faith in Christ’s finished work on the cross. So why do you grumble? Maybe its because you haven’t realized that the Lord is God, and you are not.

Something to think about from the Proclamation point of view.
