You Will Never See Death

You Will Never See Death

How often do you think about death?  And when you think about it, are you filled with questions?  Where do you go?  Who’s there?  And what is it like?  Well, Jesus has some incredible words for you in John 8:51 when He says, “Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone keeps My word, he will never see death.”  Now how is that possible?  Don’t we all know Christians who have gotten old and passed away?  So how can Jesus say, “If anyone keeps My word, he will never see death”?

Well, because Jesus is talking about a spiritual reality.  So yes, if the Lord does not return, we will all die physically.  But we will not all die spiritually.  The bible says that for the believer, absent from the body is to present and at home with the Lord, and that is far better.  So according to 2 Corinthians 5:8, death, in fact, is a promotion for the Christian.  It’s a step up from the here and now.  So not only do we never die, at least not spiritually, we have the great joy of being in God’s presence for all eternity.  And nothing in this world is worthy to be compared with that.  But it’s only for those who keep Jesus’ word, “If anyone keeps My word, he will never see death.”  So here’s the question, are you keeping the words of Jesus?  Do you even know the words of Jesus so that you can keep them?

Something to think about from the Proclamation point of view.
