2019 Colombia Missions Trip

Colombia Missions Trip: Interest Survey

We are trying to identify all of the folks at Proclamation who are interested in going on our upcoming 2019 Missions Trip to Colombian on April 6-13. The current plan is to take high school students and adults to serve the congregation at La Iglesia de Itagui. We will eat and sleep at the seminary each morning and evening, work at the church during the day, and enjoy time together as a team and with our Colombian brothers and sisters throughout the trip. Since we're still finalizing the logistics (flights, team size, sleeping availability, work plans, etc.), filling out the survey does NOT guarentee you a spot on the trip. It simply lets us know that you are interested in going. Once we have all the information, we will determine who and how many should go to best serve the folks in Colombia. We hope and pray that you understand the process and are tremendously grateful for your interest!!!

Vaccines

What is Needed.

Traveling to Colombia requires the following vaccines:

  • Hepatitis A - this is a two-part vaccine.  Only the first shot is needed before the trip and a booster is required 6 months later.  However, you only need to do this once.
  • Typhoid - one shot lasts two years
  • Tetanus - one shot lasts 10 years
  • Routine Vaccines - make sure these are up to date.

Where to get it

Mercy Medical Center in Springfield, MA has a Travel Medicine Clinic.  They have all the vaccines on hand and said the cost is covered by most health insurance plans.  You will have to call ahead and make an appointment.

Urgent Care in W. Hartford also has Typhoid and Hep A vaccines.  However, only Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO's covers their cost.  Others will have to pay $350, which only includes the first Hep A shot.

Passport Health in W. Hartford is a small travel health clinic.  They do not accept insurance and charge $327 for the Typhoid and first Hep A shot.

A passport is required to travel out of the United States to Colombia.  All this information is from the US State Department Website and includes checklists, forms, and FAQs.
