Sermon Theme: Believers in the Old Testament, the New Testament, and today believe the promises of God and the good news of the gospel, and have the certainty that they will live eternally even if they die physically. This frees them to live gloriously different and abundantly generous.

I.      BELIEVERS WILL NEVER DIE – (John 8:51)

          A.     What does that mean? – (John 5:24, 11:25-26)

          B.     Why should we think about death? – (Heb. 9:27)

          C.     How should believers think about death?
                    1.    View death without fear – (2 Cor. 5:8; Rom. 8:38-39)
                    2.    View death as a promotion – (Phil. 1:21-23)
                    3.    View death with hope – (John 11:35; 1 Thess. 4:13)

          D.     What happens when we die?
                    1.    Believers – (Rev. 6:9-10, 21:1-5; 1 Cor. 15:35-57)
                    2.    Unbelievers – (Luke 16:24-26; 2 Thess. 1:7-9)

          E.     What doesn’t happen when we die?

II.    O.T. BELIEVERS NEVER DIED – (John 8:56)

          A.     Abraham Rejoiced in Jesus Day – (John 8:56)
                    1.    Believed the promises of God – (Gen. 12:1-4, 15:6)
                    2.    Believed the gospel – (Gal. 3:6-9; Rom. 4:1-25)
                    3.    Believed in the resurrection – (Gen. 22; Heb. 11:19)
                    4.    Believed in heaven – (Heb. 11:8-10, 13-16)

          B.     All Believers Rejoice in Jesus Day
                    1.    Love the promises of God and the gospel
                    2.    Long for heaven and the final resurrection
                    3.    Live gloriously different and abundantly generous
