2 Corinthians 8-9

Sermon Theme: Generosity begets generosity. The gospel proclaims the grace of our Lord Jesus in generously giving Himself for His own. As recipients of His grace, we are called to generously give ourselves - first to the Lord and then to one another - from hearts awed by grace and overflowing with love and gratitude.

I. GENEROSITY IN THE EARLY CHURCH (2 Corinthians 8:1-8)
    A. Commendation for Macedonia (2 Corinthians 8:1-5)
        1. They gave to the Lord
        2. They gave to one another
        3. They gave sacrificially
        4. They gave earnestly
    B. Exhortation for Corinth (2 Corinthians 8:6-8)
        1. Persevere in what they began
        2. Prove their love is genuine

II. GENEROSITY GROUNDED IN GRACE (2 Corinthians 8:9)
    A. The Lavish Grace of Christ
    B. The Desperate Need of Man

III. GENEROSITY SUSTAINED BY GRACE (2 Corinthians 9:6-15)
    A. Reflects the Gospel
    B. Empowers Every Good Work
    C. Results in the Glory of God
