What does Sunday morning worship look like?
Sundays are the highlight of the week for us here at Christ Proclamation Church. They are a chance for the people of God to come together and worship the Lord Jesus Christ through singing, sharing, and hearing the Word of God faithfully and relevantly preached. You may also be wondering about some of the more practical questions like what will people be wearing, what happens when I arrive, and what will the service be like? We've listed those questions below and a few more along with our answers. But the best way to know what we're like is to just come and join us. We look forward to having you!
Where and when do we meet?
We typically meet at 100 Pigeon Hill Road in Windsor, CT; however, in light of the present coronavirus situation, our service is available through Live Stream. Our service starts at 10:00 AM and lasts approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes with coffee, food and fellowship immediately after the service.
What should I wear?
We welcome you to dress comfortably and be yourself. Most people at Proclamation will dress casually, and yet there will certainly be some who dress up. We invite you to wear whatever makes you the most comfortable. We don't make dress an issue.
What do I do when I get there?
When you walk in the front door, a friendly person will greet you with a smile and a handshake. They'll also give you a worship program, answer any questions that you might have, and direct you to the sanctuary. If you have young kids, they'll be happy to take you to the nursery room where childcare is provided during the service. You can read about Proclamation Kids for more information.
What happens during the gathering?
The worship program that you'll receive when you arrive will provide an overview of our service. During our time together, we'll sing, share announcements, pray, read Scripture, laugh, hear stories of how God has transformed people’s lives, and hear a message that is both Biblical and practical for everyday life. We invite you to participate as much or as little as you like.
What kind of music will you have?
At Proclamation, the heartbeat of our music is gospel-driven and gospel-oriented congregational singing. We recognize that people have preferences regarding the style, instrumentation, and liturgy of music in church, so we work hard to balance the old with the new. Whether accompanied by piano alone or a band with drums and guitar, you will find us declaring the truths of the gospel from classic hymns and psalms, as well as modern hymns and contemporary worship songs.
What will the sermons be like?
The preaching at Proclamation will typically be expositional, which simply means that we will be preaching through books of the Bible. Sermons will include a dynamic explanation of the Scripture with helpful illustrations, and will land on practical applications that are relevant for everyday life. Our preaching series will alternate between Old and New Testaments with every sermon being gospel-centered, since Jesus is the focal point of every book of the Bible.
What will happen after the service is over?
After the service, we'll invite you to hang out for a time of food and fellowship. Snacks and refreshments will be available each week so that folks have a chance to meet visitors, get to know one another, and catch up on each other's lives. As a community, this is a wonderful and relaxing time to be together.
