Abraham Never Died

Abraham Never Died

In John 8:51, Jesus declared, “Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone keeps My word, he will never see death.”  Now that’s an amazing promise; that those who believe in Jesus Christ will never see death.  What’s equally amazing is that moments later, Jesus goes on to say to the Jews who were listening to Him, “Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day. He saw it and was glad.”  So putting those two statements together, are we to believe that Abraham, the patriarch of the Old Testament, who lived two thousand years before the time of Christ, never died?  Yes, that’s exactly what we are to believe!

And it’s not so unbelievable when we remember that Jesus also declared in John 11:25-26, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me will live even if he dies. And everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die.”  Do you see?  Jesus promises eternal life to every single person who believes in Him, whether they are looking forward from the Old Testament to the Messiah who would come; or they’re looking back to the One who was crucified, dead and buried, and rose again on the third day.  Whoever believes in Jesus will never see death.  They will never die, at least not spiritually.  So how about you?  Are you believing in Jesus?  It’s the only way to experience eternal life.

Something to think about from the Proclamation point of view.
