What's the Main Point of the Bible?

Have you ever asked yourself the question, what’s the main point of the Bible?  I mean, if the Bible is God’s Word, and I would argue that it is, what’s the essential message that God is trying to communicate?  What’s He trying to say to us?

Well, in John chapter 5, Jesus says to the religious leaders of His day, who were well versed in the Old Testament, “You search the Scripture because you think that in them you have eternal life; and yet, it’s these that testify about Me.”  Just a few verses later, Jesus goes on to say, “If you believed Moses, you would believe Me, for Moses wrote about Me.”  Jesus is telling us that He is the essential message that God is trying to communicate.  So the Bible is not just a rulebook, a list of God’s commands.  Now, they’re certainly in there, but the bible is not ultimately about a “what”.  Instead, it’s about a “who”.  Jesus said, “Moses wrote about Me.”  So what’s the main point of the Bible?  It’s Jesus Christ.  And what’s the main message?  That those who believe in Him can be reconciled to their creator, saved from their sin, and know when they die that they will experience the joy of heaven.  So when you open your bible and you search the scripture, I want to encourage you, don’t stop reading, until you find Jesus.

Something to think about from the Proclamation point of view.
